We had the VERY LAST toms a week ago, toms from France, and I was SO sad that it was ´season over’ for a loooong time to come….

That’s one of the downsides of eating seasonally; the flip-side the the incredible pleasure when something does come back I to season.

Oh, goodness. I picked the last of my tomatoes a couple of weeks ago and they were still green! Not enough sun to ripen them, but a dark cupboard did the trick. I love picking my own tomatoes. The smell alone is worth the hassle of having to water them every day.

Tomatoes were the first (and only) thing we grew when the boy-child was little so he could experience food straight from the vine with the smell and the warmth and the sweetness. I’d love to give that to every kid.

Your season is really moving along. We are to have our first snow storm tomorrow. I would rather be looking forward to one of your home grown tomatoes.

The snow storm is upon us. We were out briefly and the roads are very slippery. We’re just going to hunker down until it stops.
