It took a few second until I made the connection between brassica (thanks, Asterix, my no 1 Latin teacher) and the butterfly (“small cabbage white”) – good one and a beautiful photo to boot!
I’m so enjoying your Spring Su, thank you for sharing.
The sun is out today, the snow has disappeared but it is frosty outside where we are.

Not so much; they are a bit tasteless and we had a bumper crop of them one year ๐ฌ Nice in fritters though with mint and feta.
Kale and Swiss chard high on my list of yummy veges at the moment.
I find them really bitter. A friend of ours finds cucumber really bitter – he can taste it in salads even after someone has fished out all the pieces for him. I can’t taste cucumber at all.
Everyone who grows courgettes seems to get bumper crops and ends up giving them away๐
Thatโs really interesting. I canโt taste bought cucumbers either. With home-grown there is an astringency that I like.
Courgettes โ shop-bought and homegrown โ are really only good for adding bulk and carrying other flavours. We couldnโt even give all of ours away ๐
Pretty flower indeed. And such a lovely photo. I am with you Su โI love broccoli too! Hehe… I might be able to convince Darren to try the courgette fritters on his next visit????? He did eat some courgette flowers once because I asked him to. Lol
Enjoy your weekend, Su! ๐ ๐
