My husband loved that show and read up all about it. Evidently Paul divorced his wife and Mary hasn’t spoken to him since. It’s a shame since they were apparently such good friends and had such great chemistry on the show. Do you have Master Class episodes of it on Netflix there? Paul and Mary show how to make lots of things and it’s quite interesting. Also a bit off-putting when you see all the butter and sugar that goes into many of the treats. ๐ Prue’s good but Mary was so nice.
Ooh! I didn’t know that. We only get the show intermittently (or perhaps our TV schedulers put some series on at strange times), but I have watched a few of the master classes. I think we’re getting the latest series here at the moment, but I can’t say I’m loving Noel Fielding and Matt Lucas. I’ve seen Noel Fielding in a live show, and I don’t think his surreal comedy quite works on a baking show.
I feel another glorious tea party coming up! ๐
I’m currently happily watching a new season of the Great/Big (?) Bake-Off (German version) and particularly love watching how buttercream is applied to the cakes – although I’ve never done it myself. ๐
This looks pretty delish to me….like a salted caramel something or other.

Banana cake with coffee buttercream. I did make candied walnuts to go with it, but they werenโt brilliant ๐ฌ

I think so. Itโs even better with walnuts as well.

Coffee icing? One of my favourite ever cakes was from M&S years ago that had a firm layer of coffee icing / spread.

I was thinking carrot cake but this sounds tasty, too. And all virtual calories for me! ๐

๐ yes, Iโm going to need a few long walks and strenuous gardening sessions after this cake.

As Mary Berry said when she was on “The Great British Baking Show” and had tried something special, “It was worth the calories.”

Hehe. I think I preferred her to Prue Leith on that show.

We liked the two women who did the first years much better as well. Matt Lucas is just weird but in a different way than Noel.

I’d have to agree with that.

I had guessed carrot or ginger cake, but I see I was wrong. Banana will do just as nicely though!

I do love carrot cake, but the Big T requested banana and it is nice to have help eating my baking. ๐๐

Wouldnโt do to have to eat it all yourself!

A very simple one this time!
I’m currently watching the UK version of Bake-Off — it’s addictive!
